bori is a korean kitchen & bar where tradition meets creativity– a place to gather, share, & celebrate through the language of food.

Described as “a love letter to Korea, to Ann Arbor, and to the feeling of home,” Bori brings together the soulful warmth of Korean comfort food and the lively spirit of noraebang (karaoke). Located above Jolly Pumpkin in downtown Ann Arbor, it’s where friends come to eat, sing, and make memories over bold flavors and craft drinks.

At the heart of Bori is Chef James Park, whose journey began in Korea, where a practical career choice slowly grew into a lifelong passion. What started as curiosity became craft — and eventually, connection. Some of his earliest memories trace back to his father’s weekend meals, moments that revealed how food could be both comfort and conversation.

After earning his culinary degree from Grand Rapids Community College, Chef James went on to cook in some of Michigan’s most beloved kitchens, including Jolly Pumpkin and Miss Kim. His approach is rooted in simplicity, seasonality, and visual harmony — crafting dishes that blend East and West in fresh, familiar ways. At Bori, he brings together the flavors of his heritage and the spirit of Ann Arbor, creating food that feels both nostalgic and new.

Bori isn’t just a restaurant — it’s an experience built on connection, creativity, and the joy of sharing something special. Whether you’re here for dinner, drinks, or karaoke with friends, we invite you to come hungry, sing loud, and feel at home.
